Daily maintenance is the basic routine that operators must follow before starting and after finishing work.

First, keep the whole machine clean. Remove metal chips, dust and cutting oil residue from the worktable, spindle area, tool rest and guide rail surface. Clean up the surrounding working environment to avoid hard scraps scratching the guide rail and affecting machining precision.

Second, check the lubrication system. Confirm the automatic lubrication device works normally, ensure lubricant volume is at the standard level, and make sure oil is evenly supplied to linear guides, ball screws and sliding parts. Insufficient lubrication will cause severe wear and positioning deviation.

Third, inspect the cooling and cutting fluid system. Check cutting fluid level, concentration and cleanliness; clean the filter screen regularly to avoid pipeline blockage. Ensure smooth coolant circulation for effective cooling and tool protection.

Fourth, check electrical and safety components. Verify emergency stop button, limit switch, door safety lock and control panel work normally. Keep the electrical cabinet dry, dust-free and well ventilated to prevent short circuit and electronic component aging. Run the machine idle for several minutes to check for abnormal noise, vibration and irregular movement.

Weekly CNC Lathe Maintenance

Weekly maintenance focuses on deep cleaning, overall lubrication and simple inspection.

Fully lubricate all transmission parts, linear guides, ball screws and tool turret positioning surfaces. Remove dust and sludge on the guide rail, then apply fresh lubricating oil to maintain smooth movement.

Check the spindle running status, observe whether there is abnormal noise, temperature rise or rotation jitter. Inspect tool holders, cutting tools and turret clamping accuracy; replace worn tools and clean tool taper holes to guarantee clamping precision.

Clean the chip conveyor and chip tank thoroughly to prevent metal chips accumulation from affecting machine operation. Check all oil pipes and air pipelines for aging, leakage or bending blockage.

Monthly & Quarterly Preventive Maintenance

Monthly maintenance includes systematic inspection, parameter confirmation and parts tightening. Check all connecting bolts, spindle fastening parts and machine levelness; tighten loose bolts caused by long-term vibration.

Inspect the quality of hydraulic oil, lubricating oil and cutting fluid. Replace deteriorated, turbid or contaminated oil liquid in time and clean the oil tank and filter.

Calibrate the positioning accuracy and repeat positioning accuracy of the CNC lathe. Check X-axis and Z-axis backlash, compensate parameter deviation if necessary to keep turning parts size consistent.

Quarterly maintenance needs to check vulnerable parts such as bearings, sealing rings, belts and solenoid valves. Replace aging seals and worn bearings in advance to avoid sudden breakdown during peak production. Back up CNC system parameters and program data to prevent data loss.

Long-Term Idle Storage Maintenance

When a CNC lathe is idle for a long period, professional maintenance is still required. Clean the entire machine completely, apply anti-rust oil on exposed metal surfaces, worktable, spindle nose and guide rails. Close the protective cover and cover the machine with a dustproof cloth.

Cut off the main power supply, drain part of the cutting fluid to avoid mildew and odor. Check the machine every two weeks for moisture, rust and circuit humidity, and keep the workshop well ventilated and dry.

CNC Turning Machine Maintenance Precautions

Never overload cutting or process oversize workpieces beyond machine specification, which will damage the spindle, bearing and machine bed. Do not modify system parameters, spindle speed and limit settings without professional technical guidance.

Operators must follow standard operating procedures, avoid violent collision of tools and workpieces. Record daily maintenance status, failure records and replacement parts to form a complete maintenance log for later reference and regular overhaul arrangement.
